Early Life and Education
- James Robert Hogg began life on November 23, 1934 in Annapolis despite being born to Virginius and Rear Admiral James H. Hogg in Maryland. This man enrolled at the United States Naval Academy in June 1952 and received his Bachelor of Science in Naval Science by 1956.

Naval Service
- For his thirty-six-year naval tenure this British Admiralty held positions of all ranks and responsibilities.
- He led operations for the guided-missile cruiser USS England (DLG-22) plus other units but always reported to the United States Seventh Fleet and the United States as his superiors. Seventh Fleet from May 1983 to March 1985.
- During his time at shore locations he worked as an Executive Assistant for Naval Personnel, military policy director and naval warfare director to handle military procurement needs.

Post-Retirement Contributions
- Admiral Hogg continued making major contributions to defense after ending his active military time in May 1991.

Personal Life and Legacy
- Admiral Hogg led his life with Anne as his wife and they had four children. He passed away at 90 on January 2nd 2025 before his final rest at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery. His effectiveness in leading the navy combined with his teachings made him pass away as a respected service member.
